"This winner of six 1991 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Score is one of the most dazzling, endearing, and heartwarming musicals of all time. The charismatic Will Rogers returns from the hereafter to guide the audience through the story of his career. THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES is a breezy, stylish, utterly heavenly musical biography of one of America’s most beloved folk heroes. The legendary Rogers was a vaudeville performer, radio personality, newspaper columnist, and a movie star before his untimely death in an airplane crash in 1935. He was even an unofficial candidate for U.S. president. But, more than anything else, Will Rogers was an unparalleled American phenomenon and the first international multimedia superstar. His upbeat manner and homespun humor endeared him to audiences worldwide, and his contemporary references and witticisms are as applicable today as they were 70 years ago. This show boasts sumptuous production numbers, exquisite chorus girls, phosphorescent rope tricks in black light, a dog act, songs you actually want to hum, and, of course, the laconic cowboy-philosopher from Oklahoma. The show also won a 1992 Grammy for Best Musical Show Album."
