Mary Poppins sweeps duo off to Broadway

by Richard Ouzounian [Wednesday, June 21, 2006]

There are going to be two veterans of the Toronto production of Mamma Mia! tripping over the rooftops of London when the musical version of Mary Poppins hits Broadway this fall.

Nicolas Dromard and Kevin Yee, who both spent time singing and dancing in ABBA-land, have been signed as members of the ensemble for the song and dance version of the P.L. Travers classic about the nanny who turns everyone’s lives around.

A huge hit in England, expectations are high it will repeat its success on Broadway. (And then maybe come to Toronto?)

Dromard has been busy in recent years dancing on Broadway in Oklahoma! and The Boy From Oz, and was most recently seen in Toronto in the touring production of Wicked.

Yee has been working on his musical career and spent his time after Mamma Mia! putting together his first album, Kev Was Here.

Watch for Dromard and Yee when Poppins opens on Broadway on Nov. 16.
