Newfoundland Premier Roger Grimes and former Premier Brian Tobin are expected to be in attendance for the official opening of the play.
The musical, written by ACTRA award-winning playwright and composer Gord Carruth, is based on the life and times of Joey Smallwood, the first premier of Newfoundland and one of Canada's most colourful and controversial public figures.
Actor Dean McNeill plays the younger Joey while Nepean's Moe Romanow plays the older Joey.
Other Nepean residents performing or involved with the play are: Tanya Chang, Laurie Dickson, Barbara Dickson, Martin Hankes-Drielsma, James Hodgins, Pat McAlpine, Don MacLeod, Walt Conrad, John Seccombe, Kristy Hartford and Tim Hillock.
Joey is being directed by Bob Lackey, musical direction is by Brian Boggs and choreography is by Joan Scarcella. Nepean resident Stan Fenwick is the producer.
